Simulates the heating and cooling load of a typical office building in Tianjin during 1961-2009 using energy simulation software TRNSYS. Particularly analyses the relationship between building extreme load and climate change with meteorological data of the same period. The results show that the extreme heating load days of the office building significantly decrease, while the extreme cooling load days do not change significantly from 1961 to 2009. Less extreme load days occur in transitional month during both heating and cooling periods. The contribution of extreme load in the total load shows large decrease in heating period, but it changes little in cooling period in the past 49 years. The extreme heating load days are mainly influenced by temperature, whereas the extreme cooling load days are related to temperature and relative humidity.
